A Russian heavy Il-76TD transport aircraft delivered 27 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. This was reported by the press service of EMERCOM.
The Il-76 is a heavy rear-ramp aerial cargo truck, created as a military transport aircraft.
In civil commercial aviation, it is used primarily for transporting industrial equipment, hazardous cargo, and self-propelled vehicles.
The aircraft is equipped with two onboard cranes, two winches, and a rear ramp with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons. Maximum payload is 46 tons, flight range with a 40-ton payload is 3,900 km, and the flight crew consists of 5 people.
Governor of Ulyanovsk Region Alexey Russkikh noted that the Aviastar plant producing the Il-76 was tasked with increasing production. For this purpose, the enterprise introduced robotic machine tools to reduce the share of manual labor and optimize processes.
