A parking fine may turn out to be a trap: scammers have started sending drivers fake notifications

Fraudsters have come up with a new scheme to deceive drivers using fake parking fines. This was reported by the Narodny Front's "Moshelovka".

Scammers send SMS messages claiming that a car was allegedly recorded parked in an area covered by a temporary sign. "Fine: 3,000 rubles. Pay it via the link to avoid it being doubled".

The roadwork season begins in spring. At this time, temporary signs and restrictions appear, and drivers more often doubt whether they have violated the rules. Scammers take advantage of this moment. Most often, messages from fraudsters are received by residents of large cities.

"Moshelovka" reminded drivers: paying fines via SMS is always a scam. Real fines contain a resolution number and a unique accrual identifier (UIN), and they should only be checked through official services.

Earlier, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about another method of fraud — through classified ad websites. Scammers find old user listings with saved contact details and write to the owners posing as buyers. When the person replies that the listing is no longer relevant, they are sent a link to an allegedly active publication. Such a link leads to a clone site. The user is asked to log in to check the information or delete the listing — and at that moment the fraudsters gain access to their data.
