It is now possible to control an interceptor drone with a regular computer mouse. Russian developers have proposed a technology that allows piloting a drone through the familiar PC interface, according to RIA Novosti, which studied the electronic database of Rospatent.
Previously, operators had to master specialized consoles with joysticks, buttons, and switches. Now, a standard two- or three-button mouse is sufficient. Engineers explain that when a person works with something they are already familiar with, they react faster, make fewer mistakes, and spend less effort on training.
This is especially important for interceptor drones, where every second counts. The operator can quickly give the command to turn, gain altitude, or intercept a target – the mouse movements are intuitive and do not require long training. The developers note that the technology reduces the influence of the human factor and simplifies work in stressful situations.
It is planned that the simplified interface will allow for faster training of new specialists and reduce the cost of simulators. At the same time, the functionality of the system is not inferior to classic consoles, and in some scenarios, it wins due to ergonomics.
The invention has already passed the patent examination. The next stage is testing in real conditions and adaptation to different drone models.
