The delivery of biomaterials using the Swallow aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle has been launched in the Khangalassky district of Yakutia. During the first flight, the drone transported tests from the village of Oktyomtsy to the Central District Hospital of the city of Pokrovsk.
The developers modified the design of the drone, strengthening its cargo compartment. Now biological samples are protected from shaking and do not freeze at high altitudes.
Characteristics of the Swallow drone:
- Flight range — 100 km
- Air time — up to 3.5 hours
- Weight — 30 kg
- Flight altitude — 5,500 m
- Cruising speed — over 90 km/h
The transportation of tests using a drone is especially relevant during periods of ice drift and impassability. The Swallow will connect regional medical centers with outpatient clinics in remote villages of the republic. In the future, this experience may be scaled to all northern regions of Russia.
