The founder of Lobaev Arms, Vladislav Lobaev, stated that the key task of the new robotic complex "Doppelganger" is to maximally separate the operator from the weapon for the sake of his survival on the modern battlefield. According to him, the rifle actually turns into a drone, which the shooter controls remotely, remaining in cover.
The rifle should become a land drone "ground-to-ground". The shooter should be as isolated from the weapon as possible in order to survive on the modern battlefield. After all, in the near future we will have to fight not only against soldiers, but also against inexpensive androids that produce themselves. People are too expensive and there are few of them. The "Doppelganger" robotic high-precision sniper complex on various platforms is a contribution of our group of companies and their teams, as well as Russia's first step into this near future and the already happening present.
The developer emphasized that "Doppelganger" is not a final solution, but a platform that will constantly evolve. The same technological developments have already been integrated into related areas: small air defense systems, perimeter security of facilities and the "flying sniper rifle" project based on drones. The complex is compatible with various carriers and is ready to update artificial intelligence algorithms.
Lobaev noted that work on the project has been underway since 2015 with the team's own modest funds, and it was limited funding that caused the relatively long path to a production model. Nevertheless, he is convinced that sniping after the appearance of such systems will no longer be the same: the accuracy of the machine and the decision of a person made in a safe zone form a new standard of high-precision fire.
