In Russia, successful tests of a quasi-hypersonic cartridge designed to combat drones have been carried out. This was reported by the developer company Lobaev Arms.
The initial velocity of the ammunition is 1530 meters per second. The cartridge was created specifically for the robotic fire complex "Double", including its anti-drone modification. According to the developers, the high speed of the projectile reduces the reaction time to the target and increases the probability of its destruction, especially when working on small and fast-maneuvering UAVs.
The design of the complex's firing module is simplified: assembly and disassembly are performed faster than with a standard assault rifle, and the replacement of the combat unit is done by pressing a single button. This solution speeds up the system's preparation for operation and facilitates its maintenance in the field.
The robotic complex "Double" is designed for automated firing as part of perimeter security systems, object protection, and unit support.
Lobaev Arms noted that further tests will be aimed at testing the use of ammunition in various climatic zones and combat scenarios.
