Yandex plans to launch more than a thousand self-driving taxis on the roads of Russian cities by 2030. This was announced by the CEO of the service, Alexander Anikin.
The company also maintains its target of launching over a hundred robotaxis in Moscow as early as 2026. Alexander Anikin noted that scaling up autonomous transport requires working out many technical and user scenarios. This includes refining the mobile application and organizing passenger boarding, as self-driving cars cannot yet make situational decisions as flexibly as a human behind the wheel.
Earlier, Yandex expanded the geography of test trips of its autonomous cars — now they operate in the central districts of Moscow. This expansion is related to internal testing of robotaxi technology and data collection for further refinement of algorithms.
For the stable operation of the drone fleet, not only technical maturity of systems will be required, but also adaptation of urban infrastructure, as well as the regulatory framework.
