The crew and regular repair units can replace the engine or transmission of the T-90 tank in the field without the use of lifting equipment. This was reported in Rostec.
The state corporation emphasized that machines of this family were originally designed taking into account autonomous maintenance and repair outside stationary bases.
Replacement of units, up to the engine and transmission, is possible by the crew or regular repair units in the field without the use of cranes and mandatory delivery to specialized factory workshops.
This possibility is ensured by the layout of the engine-transmission compartment and the modular principle of replacing components.
Rostec did not specify the specific modification of the engine, but units such as V-92S2F and V-84MS are used on tanks of this family. The mass of such power plants is about one ton without taking into account attachments.
