The "Yolka" Interceptor Drone is Combined with a Radar Tower on a Pickup Truck for the First Time

Anti-aircraft UAVs will be able to operate in semi-automatic mode

Russian military personnel have begun testing a new version of mobile air defense using "Yolka" drone interceptors, combined with a radar station on a lifting boom. The entire structure was installed on the body of a pickup truck, the scheme is being developed by the company "Yumirs".

Military journalist Boris Rozhin explained that in this configuration, the "Yolka" will be able to receive targeting from the radar, and the calculations themselves will become much more mobile.

They can operate in semi-automatic mode, where the systems detect kamikaze drones, launch anti-aircraft UAVs, and then the operators would take them under their own control.

The new scheme with radar on a pickup truck base is also applicable to machine-gun turrets and laser air defense systems, Rozhin added.

The "Yolka" accelerates to 230 km/h, which allows it to easily catch up with strike drones. Electronic warfare equipment is not able to jam the interceptor - the control channel is simply absent.
