"Ioffe-1" will carry the names and drawings of earthlings: "Geoscan's" CubeSat launches in winter 2026-2027

The company "Geoscan" is accepting names, drawings, and photographs from anyone until October 15th - a digital storage device with this data will be installed on the "Ioffe-1" CubeSat. The launch of the device is scheduled for the winter of 2026-2027, the organizer's press center told TASS.

"Ioffe-1" will join the "Supernova Hunters" satellite constellation of the "Space-π" project. On board is a gamma-ray burst detector and a 360-degree panoramic camera. The flight control center will select the 100 best drawings and broadcast them to Earth in the amateur radio frequency range.

This is the third such campaign by "Geoscan": in 2022, "Geoscan-Edelweiss" sent the names of almost 23,000 people into orbit, and the "239Alferov" CubeSat in the last mission took data from 7,787 participants from 117 countries. The same "239Alferov" this year recorded a gamma-ray burst from the early Universe - and proved that a small device is capable of conducting full-fledged scientific observations.
