The Russian Ministry of Defense has published footage showing the crews of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Vostok group of troops thwarting an enemy missile attack with accurate missile launches.
As emphasized in the Kalashnikov concern, the tracked chassis GM-5969-01 manufactured by the Mytishchi Machine-Building Plant ensures high maneuverability of the vehicle. The platform is also responsible for the placement, transportation, and power supply of the self-propelled firing unit equipment.
The main weapon of the complex is the 9M317M anti-aircraft guided missiles. They are placed in sealed transport and launch containers, which protects the ammunition from external influences and simplifies maintenance. Each self-propelled firing unit carries up to six such missiles. The Buk-M3 is capable of hitting aerial targets at a range of up to 70 kilometers and at an altitude of up to 35 kilometers. The missile is equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead and an active radar homing head, which allows the implementation of the "fire-and-forget" principle. The complex can simultaneously engage up to six targets, and the entire division up to 36.
