A project has been launched in St. Petersburg that promises to revolutionize the production of passenger cars in Russia. A large research and production complex will be built in Shushary. Here, engineers will create advanced technologies and components for the domestic automotive industry.
Governor Alexander Beglov announced that the object is already being designed, and funding in the amount of 3.1 billion rubles has been allocated from the treasury infrastructure loan.
The area of the future center will be about 18 thousand square meters. This will be the first R&D site in the Northwestern Federal District, entirely focused on passenger car construction. The development team will receive a modern laboratory base and production facilities for testing prototypes in real conditions.
The new model for the development of the industry, announced by the governor, is based on two key principles: own engineering solutions and localization of the component base. The research center will become a link between scientific developments and mass production, shortening the path from idea to conveyor.
