Russian company Pi Em Ai Aero has begun negotiations with partners in South Africa on the first large-module assembly of the TVS-2MS aircraft in the country. At the first stage, one TVS-2MS without an engine is planned to be supplied for demonstration flights, while the customer will install the powerplant independently.
The large-module assembly of the aircraft will be carried out by the forces of the Rusaviaprom enterprise. In the future, the aircraft is planned to be assembled in Africa for the local market.
For now, these are preliminary agreements, but the vector toward assembly outside the Russian Federation is becoming visible. We will keep you informed about the project's development.
The TVS-2MS was the result of the modernization of the An-2 with a foreign Honeywell TFE331-12 turboprop engine rated at 1,100 hp, with improved range and speed characteristics. The aircraft was developed without state support by the Saratov-based company Rusaviaprom.
Cruising speed is 200 km/h, maximum speed is up to 250 km/h. Capacity is 12 people.
Earlier it became known that the TVS-2MS will also begin to be delivered to Mongolia. It can be stated that the attempt to launch production in the Saratov Region ended without result.
The private project did not receive a place in Russia's state aviation development programs, where priority was given to other platforms, including the LMS-901 "Baikal".
