Newlink to Start Producing Servos for Civilian Drones in Yekaterinburg by 2027

The new enterprise will be located within the city limits

The Ural company Newlink will create a large-scale production of servos for unmanned aerial vehicles in Yekaterinburg. This was reported by the information policy department of the Sverdlovsk region. The enterprise is scheduled to launch by 2027. A servo is an actuating mechanism responsible for the precise control of position, speed, and force in the moving parts of a drone: rudders, flaps, swivel platforms. Accurate piloting is impossible without it. The total investment will be about 600 million rubles: 300 million is a grant from the NTI (National Technology Initiative) fund, and the same amount is from own and attracted funds. The cooperation agreement was signed with the participation of the Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Dmitry Ionin.

Who is behind the project and what is already being produced

Newlink is registered in Yekaterinburg and has been operating since 2008. The company specializes in scientific research and development in the field of technical sciences. In two years, the staff has grown from one employee in 2022 to 52 in 2024 — a sign of active scaling for a specific order.

The company already produces a line of airborne and ground-based electronic equipment. The new servo production will be the next step in forming a complete component base for civilian drones within the region.

The ownership structure of Newlink is distributed among three legal entities: the NTI fund owns 45.2%, Paragon LLC owns 44.2%, and Ursis LLC owns 10.6%. The production site will be located within the city limits; the exact address is not officially disclosed.

The project fits into the infrastructure of the Cosmos technology park — a site that the Sverdlovsk region is creating as a center of attraction for companies in the field of drones and space technologies. It is planned to house production facilities, engineering centers, and a testing base for testing components.

Servos are one of the most import-dependent components of civilian drone construction. Until 2022, Russian UAV manufacturers massively used Chinese and Taiwanese Hitec, Futaba, and similar products. Own large-scale production in Yekaterinburg will close this position, at least partially — provided that by 2027 Newlink reaches the stated volumes. The staff of 52 people is still small for a large-scale enterprise: for comparison, similar productions in China have hundreds of jobs.
