Rostec Denies Rumors of AvtoVAZ Shutdown and Threatens to Contact Law Enforcement

The company stated that it is a planned modernization, not a production shutdown

Rostec has denied reports of a possible production shutdown at AvtoVAZ, stating that the information being disseminated is untrue and of an unfair nature. The company emphasized that modernization work is planned at the enterprise, and did not rule out contacting law enforcement agencies in connection with false publications in the media.

Earlier, the media claimed that due to "falling sales" and "full warehouses," employees were being sent on mandatory leave in May for additional days.

It was also reported about a large-scale modernization of production related to the preparation for the release of "Azimut" and the adjustment of logistics. Separately, the modernization of the second production line, which produces Niva, was mentioned.

Rostec explained that planned production modernization activities will take place at the enterprise from May 4 to May 13. During this period, employees not involved in the work will be on corporate leave with payment of vacation pay. From May 9 to May 11, they will also be granted public holidays.

On May 14–15, activities to modernize the workshops will continue, while the team will return to work as usual with full pay. There will be no downtime or payments at "two-thirds"
