AvtoVAZ Launches New Casting Machines: Production Accelerated

AvtoVAZ has moved into the active phase of modernizing the production of aluminum casting and forging. The company has purchased 10 new casting machines, some of the equipment has already been put into operation.

Lines for casting key components have been launched at the sites — a steering mechanism housing for Lada Iskra and Vesta, an oil pan for 16-valve engines, a gearbox housing, as well as a 16-valve cylinder head. The update reduces the proportion of manual operations and speeds up the production of power units.

At the same time, the company is expanding the robotization of hazardous areas. Currently, 70 robots are working in the foundry and forging production, and another 23 units will be replaced by the end of the year. In total, more than 1 600 industrial robots are used at the company's plants — this is the maximum figure in the Russian automotive industry.

The company clarified that the modernization increases the stability of quality, reduces production risks and creates a reserve for new models and power plants.
