The first experimental flight of the modernized Yak-130M combat trainer aircraft will take place in June of this year. This was announced by Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director of PJSC Yakovlev.
The Yak-130M prototype was first shown at the Army-2024 exhibition. Yakovlev noted that the aircraft is capable of effectively performing combat operations, including low-intensity conflicts.
Initially, the Yak-130 was developed as an advanced aircraft for training military pilots. However, recently there has been an opinion that the aircraft should be sent to fight drones.
Technical characteristics of the Yak-130M:
- Maximum take-off weight — 10,290 kg
- Maximum speed — 950 km/h
- Practical ceiling — 12,500 meters
Rostec emphasized that the modernization will allow to arm the Yak-130M with air-to-air missiles and high-precision aviation weapons with satellite and laser guidance systems.
