The installation of the fourth tier of the internal containment of power unit No. 1 has started at the El Dabaa NPP site in Egypt. The structure is a key element of the safety system: it is inside it that the nuclear reactor and the equipment of the primary circuit will be located.
The new tier was assembled from 12 blocks, each weighing about 12 tons. The height of the section is 7.85 meters. A heavy crawler crane and automotive equipment were used to lift and install the elements.
About 100 specialists were involved in the preparatory and main works. Approximately 20 people were directly involved in the installation.
The next important step is the installation of the embedded part of the transport airlock. It will take its place at the border of the 3rd and 4th tiers of the internal containment.
As a reminder, last week there was a training exercise on fire safety at the construction site of the fourth power unit of the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt. The event was attended by 652 people.
