"You have a letter from the Ministry of Labor": a new call after which money disappears

Scammers disguise themselves as delivering official letters

Scammers continue to complicate schemes and now use «letters from the Ministry of Labor». Everything looks like a regular courier delivery: a call from «Russian Post», an important letter from the department, clarification of details. At this stage, most people do not have any suspicions — this is what the calculation of the attackers is based on.

The victim receives a call from a person who introduces himself as a postal worker and informs about the delivery of an official letter. The conversation is built as plausibly as possible: they clarify the date, address, phone number, creating the feeling of a real registration.

After that, an SMS code arrives. They are asked to dictate it, allegedly to confirm the track number or complete the delivery. In fact, this code gives access to the accounts and personal data of a trusting victim of scammers.

Next, the attackers can act in different ways: gain access to services, withdraw money, or apply for loans.

The scheme works due to the usual scenario — an official letter, delivery, a call from an «employee». Everything looks like a standard service until it's too late.
