Deputies from the "New People" faction submitted a bill to the State Duma that introduces a mechanism for reserving car numbers. The government commission on legislative activity has prepared a positive review of the document.
It concerns amendments to the law "On State Registration of Vehicles." Russian President Vladimir Putin previously supported the idea of "New People" to sell "beautiful" numbers on the "Gosuslugi" portal.
According to the bill, drivers will be able to reserve a number from the available ones on the platform from July 1, 2026. The traffic police will establish the procedure for reservation, as well as the amount of payment for the service. The authors of the initiative estimated that the amendments could bring up to 25 billion rubles a year to the federal budget.
The government commission on legislative activity noted in the draft review that the procedure itself needs more "transparency". The payment system should be "flexible" depending on the "characteristics" of a specific number.
According to information from the State Duma database, the bill is planned to be considered in the spring session.
