AI has already helped achieve more accurate and stable properties of carbon fiber

Artificial intelligence is already actively used by Rosatom scientists in the development and synthesis of new materials. This was announced by Alexey Dub, scientific director of the Scientific and Technical Program "Materials and Technologies" of the Rosatom State Corporation and first deputy director of the institution "Science and Innovation", on the sidelines of the Technoprom-2025 forum.

To obtain a given composition of a material, you have to go through hundreds of thousands of options. For example, to determine the optimal composition of the material for a "fast" supercritical pressure reactor, about 250 thousand different options were considered. With traditional experimental methods, this would simply be impossible. And in our case, the selection and choice of a truly optimal option with the help of AI was implemented in two weeks.

As Alexey Dub noted, the introduction of artificial intelligence in the production process of carbon fiber for the Rosatom pilot line has led to significant improvement. AI helped optimize technological parameters, which reduced the variation in the final characteristics of the fiber. This, in turn, increased the stability of production and made it possible to significantly lighten the structures created with its use.
