ADZh15.2-BK diesel generators for backup power in field conditions will be manufactured by KMZ

Units with a capacity of 15.6 kW will go to specialized systems performing strategic tasks

The military-industrial holding \"Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant\" (KMZ, Kingisepp, Leningrad Region) has signed a contract for the manufacture and delivery of ADZh15.2-BK dl autonomous diesel generator units. This was reported by the company's press service. The generators are intended for backup power supply of specialized installations in field conditions—exactly which units they will be used in has not been officially disclosed. The units are manufactured in an open-frame configuration: this version is designed for installation inside body-containers or vans. The contract was placed amid growing state defense orders for autonomous power sources for use outside the stationary power grid.

How the ADZh15.2-BK differs from the basic KMZ lineup

The basic ADZh15 model in a canopy, produced by the plant in series, has a rated power of 15.0 kW. The contract version, the ADZh15.2-BK, is 15.6 kW at a voltage of 400 V. The open-frame configuration instead of a canopy reduces weight and simplifies integration into the finished body of a vehicle or a stationary shelter. At a 75 percent load, the unit operates for 12 hours without refueling—enough for a daily duty cycle with breaks.

KMZ manufactures diesel generators according to group technical specifications under the supervision of the Technical Control Department (OTK) and the military representative office of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. Before being handed over to the customer, each unit undergoes testing in various operating modes.

Performance specifications of the ADZh15.2-BK diesel generator

  • Rated power: 15.6 kW
  • Rated voltage: 400 V
  • Configuration: open-frame (for installation in a body-container or van)
  • Operating mode: backup power supply
  • Autonomy at 75% load: 12 hours
  • Application: specialized installations in field conditions
  • Quality control: OTK + military representative office of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation

In the KMZ lineup, the open-frame configuration is not a standard, but an option tailored to the customer's technical assignment. This means that for the contract the plant adapted the design: removed the load-bearing canopy, revised the fastening assemblies, and changed the exhaust outlet. For field use, this approach reduces the overall weight of the system and makes it possible to place the generator in an existing enclosure without altering the geometry of the compartment.

Backup power supply for field systems is one of the stable segments of the state defense order. KMZ remains one of the few Russian manufacturers that cover the range from 2 to 1000 kW with their own products and maintain military acceptance on site.
