An unmanned airship for cargo transportation is planned to be assembled in Yakutia. The work is being carried out by the "North" Scientific and Educational Center in Yakutsk. The first flight of the prototype is scheduled for 2026.
The 200-cubic-meter device will be able to lift up to 500 kilograms of payload. This will allow the delivery of medicines, mail, and everyday goods to villages that are difficult to reach by land. According to Alexander Safronov, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sakha to the President of the Russian Federation, the airship will operate in the coverage area of the MTS network — communication will ensure the control of the drone.
The development is needed to test autonomous flight along specified coordinates. The system will receive a route from point A to point B and will be able to follow it without the participation of a pilot. This approach will reduce logistics costs and speed up delivery to remote areas. When creating the airship, engineers take into account the harsh weather conditions of the North, the features of landing and balancing the device.
