Since 2024, the Russian military has been actively using a new "Yolka" drone interceptor that works on a "fire and forget" principle. The deputy commander of an anti-aircraft missile platoon with the call sign Kazak explained the principle of operation of the development.
According to him, the design of the interceptor itself is quite simple — a launching mechanism and the drone itself. The military puts it into action with a special key, after which the "Yolka" accelerates to 200 km/h. Onboard equipment captures the target at a distance of up to 800 meters
Everything is quite simple – it is activated with a key, removed from the safety, there is a trigger. Sensors are installed, visual capture of the target is performed, the device emits a steady sound signal. The operator presses the trigger, and it leaves, and then it does everything itself.
The Ministry of Defense added that the "Yolka" hits targets with a kinetic strike. Due to its high speed and accuracy, the drone literally crashes into the drone, which allows you to quickly neutralize the threat.
