Transport-loading vehicle for the Uragan MLRS received a new chassis

Modernization based on the BAZ-69092 all-terrain vehicle with a 6×6 wheel arrangement increased the vehicle's range and speed

The transport-loading vehicle, which delivers and reloads 220-mm rockets, has changed its base. Previously, it stood on a four-axle ZIL-135LM chassis with a pair of ZIL-375Ya gasoline engines (360 hp in total). Now — on a three-axle BAZ-69092 all-terrain vehicle with a 6×6 wheel arrangement and a YaMZ-8491.10-032 diesel engine with a capacity of 450 hp.

Why this is important for operation

  • Further without refueling: the range has almost doubled — from 570 to 1,000 km.
  • Faster on the march: the maximum speed has increased from 65 to 80 km/h.
  • More economical in consumption: one diesel engine consumes less fuel than two gasoline engines.
  • Easier to maintain: a single power unit instead of a paired scheme reduces the complexity of repair.

The new chassis retains the ability to operate in difficult climatic conditions and off-road. The 6×6 wheel arrangement, lockable differentials and low-pressure tires provide cross-country ability comparable to the previous version, with less weight and dimensions.

Design features of BAZ-69092

  • Frame — welded, ladder type, with Z-shaped side members.
  • Cab — three-seater, frame-panel. It is possible to install additional equipment.
  • The steering is equipped with a power steering with a backup pump.
  • Transmission — mechanical, with a two-stage transfer case and forced locking of differentials.
  • Braking system — pneumatic-hydraulic, with separation of circuits along the axles.
  • The dimensions of the chassis and load capacity (about 13–14 tons) allow mounting standard equipment for transporting and reloading shells. At the same time, the axial load does not exceed 10 tons. This allows movement on public roads without special permits.
