Phygital sports competitions for professionals and amateurs will appear in Yugra

Winners of district tournaments will demonstrate their skills at the Digital RaiON festival

In the Surgut District of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO), a two-tier system of phygital sports competitions (combining physical disciplines and esports counterparts) is being created — for professionals and amateurs. This was announced by district head Andrei Trubetskoi.

The competitions will be divided into divisions: for schoolchildren and young people. The structure will look as follows: competitions in settlements, district competitions.

The winners of the district competitions will take part in the final tournament, which will be held as part of the Digital RaiON festival at the end of 2026.

Phygital athletes will undergo accreditation. To participate in the competitions, they must pass an exam and confirm their level of training. This refers to checking the skills of esports athletes and their knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework of digital sports in Russia.

Phygital sports in Yugra

Trubetskoi said that a number of major tournaments will be held in the Surgut District in 2026. In March, the KhMAO-Yugra phygital sports championship will take place, as well as the regional drone racing championship.

The second Russian Cup in the "Rhythm Simulator" discipline is scheduled for June. Its participants must synchronously repeat the movements of the dancer on the screen to music. The venue is the settlement of Belyi Yar.
