Engineers of the United Engine Corporation (part of Rostec) carry out repair and maintenance of aircraft engines directly at the home airfields of combat aviation in the theater of military operations, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported. This approach makes it possible to shorten the time needed to restore the aircraft — instead of sending engines to stationary enterprises, the work is performed on site.
Field servicing reduces the logistical burden and aircraft downtime: the airplane returns to service faster than under the traditional scheme of evacuating the engine to the plant. In addition to repair work, UEC specialists provide warranty servicing of engines directly at the airfields.
UEC is Russia's largest developer and manufacturer of aircraft engines; the corporation includes such enterprises as "Salyut", OMO im. Baranova, "Perm Motors", and a number of others. The corporation produces engines for military and civil aviation, space programs, and the energy sector.
