Naro-Fominsk Engineering Plant (NFMZ, part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec) has mastered an innovative technology for applying nanostructured multilayer coatings to compressor blades of PD-14 aircraft engines for the MS-21-310 aircraft. The introduction of the technology allows to more than double the performance characteristics of parts, explained in UEC.
This refers to quadrupole magnetron sputtering — a highly efficient method for producing nanocomposite coatings. It is based on sputtering material with ions from a gas discharge plasma and allows obtaining nanostructured coatings with unique properties and characteristics with a high level of protection against corrosion and wear.
General Director of NFMZ Nikolai Nikolaev explained that cooperation with other UEC divisions allows to use promising technological developments of the entire corporation in the production of compressor blades.
We have carried out work on mastering the application of nanostructured nine-layer coatings by quadrupole ion-plasma magnetron sputtering on a domestically produced installation. The coating allows more than doubling the performance characteristics of parts.
Protective coatings are applied on a universal vacuum installation UNIP-900MS. The equipment ensures plasma uniformity and expands the possibilities for applying new promising nanocomposite coatings.
Earlier www1.ru reported that UEC accelerated the welding of parts for PD-8 and PD-14 engines by 10 times.
