50-ton "beast" with 482 hp: KamAZ and Smolmash launched a transformer vehicle for highway maintenance

The new product is based on the four-axle KamAZ-65951 chassis of the K5 generation

KamAZ, together with the Smolmash plant, has brought to market a new combined road maintenance vehicle, the KDM-7881190. The new model was created on the basis of the four-axle dump truck of the K5 generation — the KamAZ-65951 (8×4) model, designed for operation in harsh conditions.

The vehicle's gross weight reaches 50 tons. The machine is equipped with a KamAZ R6 engine rated at 482 horsepower, a 16-speed gearbox, and a cab with a multimedia system.

The pneumatic braking system with EBS and an electronically controlled parking brake meets modern safety standards. [...] Special attention during development was paid to control: the reagent distribution process is fully automated (spreading density is adjustable from 5-500 g/m²; spreading width is adjustable from 1.2 to 12 m) and is controlled from the driver's cab.

The KDM-7881190 is designed for year-round maintenance of high-speed roads and paved motorways. The design makes it possible to use the equipment both separately and simultaneously, as well as to operate it both while moving and while stationary.

For operation in the dark, the vehicle is equipped with an LED light bar on the cab, an additional panel on the hopper, strobe lights, and active LED signs.

A special feature of the new product is the ability to install the full range of mounted equipment. At the same time, installation and removal of all types of attachments takes no more than 15 minutes and does not require the use of lifting mechanisms.
