The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has for the first time used the new LUCAS strike drones, Military Times reported. The design of the drones completely copies the Russian Geran and the Iranian Shahed-136.

The device is made according to the "tailless" scheme - without a tail and with a triangular wing. The declared maximum payload of the American drone is 18 kg. The warhead of the Geran is from 50 to 90 kg, depending on the specific modification.

The publication noted that the cost of one LUCAS drone is estimated at approximately 35 thousand dollars, while the Geran-2 is in the range from 300 to 800 thousand rubles (about 10 thousand dollars at the current exchange rate).

In terms of range, the Geran-2 also wins - up to 2000 km versus 1500 km.

Earlier it became known that the Gerans received a domestic combustion engine. Power units are assembled at one of the enterprises in Siberia.
