The Rosatom state corporation evacuated 94 people from Iran — employees' children, excess personnel, and all those who wished to leave the country. This was announced by the company's CEO, Alexey Likhachev.

The remaining employees remain at the construction site of the Bushehr nuclear power plant or in the residential village, and all necessary measures are being taken for their safety. A small group of employees working in Tehran is located on the territory of the Russian Embassy.

Earlier, on February 28, the United States and Israel announced the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran. According to Reuters, explosions occurred in the Bushehr area, where the nuclear power plant is located. Against this background, airspace was closed over Israel, Iran, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, and Kuwait, and Russian airlines adjusted flight routes in the region.

In 2025, Likhachev warned that a strike on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran could lead to a catastrophe comparable to Chernobyl. At that time, Rosatom called on the Israeli authorities to abandon even hints of a strike on the nuclear power plant.
