The announced delivery times of the regional airliner Il-114-300 to airlines raise many questions. Analyst Vladimir Leonov explained that the situation may be related to an unadjusted supply chain of components and parts.
He drew attention to the fact that the delivery of the first contracted aircraft Il-114-300 is expected in the second half of 2026, and subsequent batches only in 2028.
I must say, this gap is surprising. Has the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) forgotten to order metal and components for Il-114-300? Did they not believe that the plane would be in demand?
In addition, the aircraft, which was built in the 1990s at the aircraft factory in Tashkent, was slightly lighter in weight, Leonov claims.
So, the designers have another headache in the form of measures to reduce weight. Adjusting the supply chains of components, including engines, is likely to be quite long and painful.
Note that the OAK website does not specify the empty weight of the Il-114-300. Open sources indicate that the weight of the previous version of the Il-114 was about 15 tons.
The Aviaport agency reported that in the import-substituted version, the weight of the structure was reduced by one ton, but this also gave a result.
Given the possibility of increasing the fuel supply, the flight range has now increased to 1400 km. The Il-114 had this indicator was 1 thousand km.
In March 2026, JSC "Il" expects to complete certification and start delivering aircraft to the air fleets of operators.
