Russian concern "Kalashnikov" shipped the first batch of the latest shortened AK-12K rifles chambered in 5.45 mm. The weapons were sent to the troops under the 2026 state contract.
The concern's press service said that the product is in extremely high demand among servicemen involved in real combat operations. Taking this into account, "Kalashnikov" increased the output of the AK-12K in 2026.
The rifle was developed in 2024 on the basis of the AK-12 (type 3) at the request of fighters from the assault and reconnaissance units of the Airborne Forces. The manufacturer promptly launched its serial production.
Advantages of the AK-12K
The shortened version of the AK-12 features improved technical, ergonomic, and operational characteristics. The weapon is ideally suited to the conditions of modern combat.
With smaller dimensions and lower weight, the product retained all the qualities of the full-size 5.45 mm AK-12.
The AK-12K is supplied to the military with a low-noise firing device in "Multicam" camouflage.
