Kalashnikov Concern Accused of Copying the Israeli Hero-90 Munition

Defence blog: "Rus-PE" has a similar X-shaped aerodynamic configuration

The Russian Kalashnikov Concern has developed the "Rus-PE" loitering munition, which is in many ways similar to the Hero-90 manufactured by the Israeli company UVision. This was written by military expert Dylan Malyasov in a Defence blog column.

Judging by photographs from the World Defence Show defense exhibition, where the "Rus-PE" was presented, the munition has a similar X-shaped aerodynamic configuration.

The Russian kamikaze drone is intended to strike single, group, stationary, or moving targets. Hero-90 has the same purpose.

The guidance system of the "Rus-PE" includes a dual-channel gyrostabilized optical seeker head (GOS), capable of detecting and recognizing targets thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms.

The expert stated that new types of loitering munitions are being actively developed in Russia. At the same time, foreign systems are often copied.

Kalashnikov Concern did not answer the question of whether Russian engineers had cooperated with foreign developers and whether licensed technologies were used in the "Rus-PE".

The Israeli company UVision also did not respond to the presentation of the Russian loitering munition.

  • Flight time — up to 30 min.
