At Perm-Sortirovochnaya station on the night of February 23, 2026, three freight cars of a train derailed. The incident occurred at night in the Perm region of the Sverdlovsk Railway.

The cars derailed but remained upright and did not overturn. There were no casualties as a result of the incident, and no harm was done to people's health.

Recovery work was promptly organized on site: relevant teams and equipment were involved. Traffic at the station is currently regulated in a special order, and minor train delays are possible.

The Central Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia has organized a pre-investigation check into the elements of a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic safety and railway transport operation rules, resulting in major damage").

At the same time, the Perm Transport Prosecutor's Office is conducting its own inspection of compliance with the requirements of legislation in the field of traffic safety and railway transport operation.

The causes and exact circumstances of the incident are being established by specialists. According to preliminary data, the derailment occurred without serious damage to the track and rolling stock.
