Fraudsters have begun sending phishing messages to Russians allegedly with detected hidden paid subscriptions and an offer to cancel them. A new scheme of fraudsters was revealed by specialists of the Moshelovka platform of the People's Front.
Experts explained that the target group of such schemes is active online shoppers. The trick is especially relevant, since after analyzing spending in January and February, many users check and cancel unnecessary subscriptions.
Description of the scheme: a message arrives by e-mail or SMS. For example: “Seven hidden subscriptions have been detected. Cancel them here (a link is provided) so that money is not debited.” The link leads to a phishing site that perfectly imitates the interface of a bank or payment system, where the user is asked to “log into their account” or “confirm the card”.
Experts recalled that all subscriptions are managed in the settings of the application store or personal accounts of the services themselves. Therefore, in no case should you follow the links in such messages, representatives of the platform emphasized.
