Rooppur NPP is being built according to a Russian design using VVER-1200 reactors. The plant will consist of two power units with a total electrical capacity of 2,400 MW. After reaching design capacity, it will be able to cover more than 10% of Bangladesh's electricity demand.

Rosatom plans to provide comprehensive support for the project throughout the entire life cycle of the plant. This includes regular supplies of nuclear fuel, training and education of local personnel, technical maintenance of equipment, as well as addressing issues related to spent nuclear fuel management.
