Rosatom Starts Hot Functional Testing of VVER-1200 Reactor at Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh

The current stage involves checking the reliability of equipment and preparing for the launch of the station's first power unit

Rosatom has started hot functional testing of the VVER-1200 reactor at the first power unit of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh.

As part of a key stage in preparation for the launch, the reactor plant is gradually heated up, during which specialists carefully check the operation of all the main elements: pumps, pipelines, and heat exchange equipment. Special attention is paid to the behavior of the equipment under load, as these systems will ensure stable and safe operation of the station in the future.

Hot functional testing is a kind of dress rehearsal for the reactor's operation in conditions as close as possible to real operation. This process makes it possible to verify the reliability and readiness of the equipment for the next, more complex stages of the station's start-up, as well as to check the coherence of all mechanisms.
