AvtoVAZ has applied for registration of the trademark «Why we can, but what for?». The information appeared in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property.
The phrase became viral after an interview with Oleg Grunenkov, Director of Products and Programs at AvtoVAZ. When asked if the plant was capable of creating a BMW-level car, he replied: «Why we can, but what for?»
The answer instantly spread across social networks and became a meme. Stickers for cars and T-shirts with the catchphrase appeared on marketplaces. Now they have decided to officially assign it to the brand.
