On February 17, Rosstandart issued Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) for locally assembled Omoda C5 and C7 crossovers. The certificate will remain valid until February 16, 2027.
The documents mention the new Jeland (Jaecoo) brand, which will be assembled locally. The manufacturer is listed as the former Volkswagen enterprise in the Kaluga Region.
Until recently, Omoda cars were produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, but in early February there were rumors about transferring production to the former GM plant in Shushary (St. Petersburg). Both plants are managed by the AGR holding. In the new documents, the Kaluga enterprise is also listed as the manufacturer.
Serial assembly of Jeland models is expected in the first half of 2026. According to unofficial data, it will also be organized at the plant in Shushary. This enterprise was mothballed in 2015, but has now resumed operations.
There is a possibility that AGR plans to use both sites in Kaluga and Shushary to assemble both Omoda and Jeland.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the new Tenet Plus brand is preparing three models for Russia.
