T-90M and T-80BVM tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to the Moscow Military District in 2026

Servicemen will receive more than 100 new and modernized weapons and equipment systems

The Moscow Military District (MMD), formed in February 2024, will receive more than 100 new and modernized weapons and equipment systems in 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

Manufacturing plants will send modern models of armored vehicles and automotive equipment, missile and artillery weapons, communications equipment, and electronic warfare (EW) systems to the MMD.

What the new district will receive:

  • Giatsint-K 152 mm self-propelled gun
  • 2S43 Malva artillery system
  • T-90M and T-80BVM tanks
  • BMP-2 with the Berezhok weapons system, BMP-3
  • Tor-M2 air defense missile system
  • PMP-M pontoon bridge parks

Along with the weapons, the troops will receive special simulators for practicing emergency situations. After testing the equipment, the servicemen will begin training at proving grounds.

The Moscow Military District was formed in 1864 with headquarters in Moscow. In 2010, it was disbanded and incorporated into the Western Military District. Due to changes in the operational situation, in February 2024 Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin made the MMD an independent military-administrative unit.
