Russian servicemen of the Center group tested a welding device for restoring the fiber-optic cable of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by a fighter with the call sign Kino.
This is a welding device for mainline-type fiber optics. It is needed so that the fiber-optic line can be connected to something.
The fighter added that the equipment was received from the Russian Ministry of Defence. With its help, a break can be eliminated by restoring the fiber optics.
The ministry's press service added that the servicemen of the Center group have everything necessary to repair damaged UAVs and their components. In particular, they were given a 3D printer for printing missing parts. Repair specialists replace failed units, implement new solutions, and also test drones before sending them to servicemen.
Russian Armed Forces servicemen have been using fiber-optic drones since spring 2024. Their operating range is up to 20 km, and some models up to 50 km. The main advantage of this type of drone is resistance to the enemy's electronic warfare systems.
