The company "BPLA 52" has developed a fiber-optic spool for FPV drones called "Tort." It was presented for the first time at the "Drontekh" exhibition of unmanned, autonomous, and robotic systems, which opened in Moscow on February 4.
A company representative stated that "Tort" is 10% lighter than comparable products. In addition, the product is resistant to shocks and vibrations, which allows it to perform sharp maneuvers.
The winding technology prevents fiber-optic breaks.
"Tort" can be operated in extreme temperatures — from -20°C to +40°C, the company concluded.
Russian servicemen are actively using FPV drones controlled via fiber optics, which makes the unmanned aircraft invulnerable to the enemy's electronic warfare (EW) systems. The only drawback of this technology is range limitation. Among the well-known domestic fiber-optic drones are "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky," "Molniya," and "Gortenziya."
