Critical thinking is becoming the main factor in digital security amid the growth of sophisticated fraudulent schemes. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Alexander Lunev, head of the information security training group at Yandex.
According to him, fraudsters are increasingly using deep social engineering methods that are difficult to recognize automatically. In such circumstances, the ability of a person to question suspicious requests plays a decisive role, even if they come from familiar or trusted sources.
Lunev noted that protection systems based on artificial intelligence effectively block mass threats, but attackers are increasingly exploiting the human factor. Therefore, the user's critical thinking becomes a key element of comprehensive security.
The expert added that modern browsers and antivirus programs based on AI neutralize millions of threats every day, forming a basic level of protection. Nevertheless, digital security cannot be ensured only by technical means — it must be supplemented by conscious and careful user behavior.
AI technologies create the basis for protection against mass attacks, but the human factor remains decisive against targeted social engineering schemes — the user's ability to analyze, doubt and distrust suspicious messages.
