Russian military transport aircraft Il-62M flew to the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, on February 4. This was reported by the FlightWatcher account on the social network X.
We are talking about an aircraft with registration number RA-86495. The transport aircraft belongs to the 223rd flight unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Il-62M arrived in the Venezuelan capital on February 4 at 23:34 Moscow time and flew from there on February 11 at 07:58 Moscow time. The purpose of the visit is unknown.
It should be noted that the jet Il-62M is capable of flying up to 11 thousand km. In the cargo version, the aircraft can carry up to 40 tons of cargo.
It was the Il-62M that served as the "number 1 board" for the leaders of the USSR and Russia for a long time. In 2025, it continues to be used in the special flight detachment "Russia" and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as a transport for delegations or an airborne command post. There are only six units left in the world.
