A Russian military transport aircraft Il-76TD arrived in Venezuela with an unknown cargo on board. The aircraft belongs to the airline "AviaCon Zitotrans".
The aircraft departed from Russia on October 22, following a route through Armenia, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, and Mauritania, from where it proceeded to Venezuela.
It should be noted that "AviaCon Zitotrans" has been on the US sanctions list since January 2023.
Il-76 is a heavy ramp air freighter, created as a military transport aircraft. In civil commercial aviation, it is mainly used for the transportation of industrial equipment, dangerous goods, and self-propelled machinery.
The aircraft is equipped with two onboard cranes, two winches, and a rear ramp with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons. The maximum payload is 46 tons, the flight range with a payload of 40 tons is 3,900 km, and the flight crew consists of 5 people.
