EU authorities are exploring the possibility of including Lukoil, Gazprom, and Rosatom in the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
Europe has been swept by sanctions fanaticism, and they are coming up with increasingly radical proposals.
According to Péter Szijjártó, cooperation with these companies is crucial for the country and allows ensuring an affordable level of maintaining utility payments and energy security.
The Minister stated that proposals for an immediate ban on the purchase of Russian oil and natural gas, as well as the adoption of sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry and oil companies, are unacceptable. This could lead to Hungary losing the opportunity to purchase nuclear fuel for the Paks NPP and continue construction of the new Paks-2 station.
Szijjártó clarified that the introduction of restrictions would practically deprive the country of the opportunity to receive oil and gas from Russia. He also expressed doubts about the effectiveness of the new sanctions measures, arguing that the 20th package will not bring success, just like the previous 19.
