The high readiness of the first reactor in Turkey was confirmed by the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Russian Federation

The construction of the Akkuyu NPP with the participation of Russia is proceeding according to schedule, Alexey Ivanov, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. Earlier, Ivanov noted that Russia is satisfied with the work with the Turkish side.

In January, Rosatom State Corporation reported that the work had reached the final stretch, and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced the readiness of the power unit by 99%.

Earlier, the American company JP Morgan blocked the allocation of $2 billion for the construction of the Akkuyu NPP and froze the targeted funds. The Russian Federation hopes to unfreeze the amount, Ivanov emphasized. In addition, due to Siemens' refusal to supply the project with equipment already purchased from the company, Rosatom decided to import substitute parts for the NPP and search for suppliers in other countries.
