The S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) is capable of becoming the basis for creating a nationwide "dome" of air defense. This was stated by military expert and air defense historian Yuri Knutov.
According to him, the complex can provide protection of the airspace over the entire territory of Russia.
We have an A-135 anti-missile defense system for the central industrial region. There is the S-500 system. It is capable of solving anti-missile defense tasks and can become the basis for deploying a dome over the entire country.
The first regiment with the S-500 Prometheus SAM system has already taken up combat duty. Head of the Ministry of Defense Andrei Belousov noted that the complex is capable of hitting targets even in near space.
