Russian Military Starts Using Fiber Optic Version of "Gorynych" Cargo Drone

The new version of the drone flies up to 30 km and has a removable service block for quick repairs

The Svarog Research and Production Center announced the start of combat use of a modernized version of the 15-inch Gorynych cargo FPV drone, equipped with a fiber optic control line. The innovation ensures the device's resistance to electronic warfare (EW) systems, which is especially important in modern armed conflicts.

The fiber optic version does not transmit any radio signals during flight; the drone cannot be jammed using electronic warfare. In addition, unlike the case of using a regular drone, you cannot see where the drone is through the monitor's video channel. After delivering the cargo via fiber optics, the operator can drop the reel and return using radio channel control.

According to the developer, the drone is capable of delivering a payload of up to 10 kg to a distance of up to 15 km. By reducing the weight of the cargo, the maximum flight range increases to 30 km. The device is also supplied in a special configuration that allows the dropping of TM-62 anti-personnel mines.

During the design refinement, Svarog engineers implemented a number of improvements based on feedback from military units. In particular, a removable block appeared in the central part of the frame, simplifying the repair and replacement of electronic components without the need for complete disassembly of the body. In addition, the drone received an autonomous flight function along pre-set coordinates and a system for protecting against GNSS signal spoofing, increasing navigation reliability.
